The Christian Apocalypse Explained

Written by Ryan Prost

Exiled to the island of Patmos by the Roman emperor Domitian the emperor who cane from nothing the apostle John had a vision, a revelation.

The emperor Constantine would later reverse the Christian persecution of Domitian’s rule after seeing a vision of a Christin cross before battle.

Some believe based on scripture that the rapture of Christians will be after the period of terror known as the Great Tribulation.

Others on the opposing side believe there is evidence given in the scriptures that Christians will be roved before the beginning of the period of terror.

This belief is based on two things.

The second is the model of God’s deliverance of his believers from judgement cast on the rest of mankind.

For example Noah was instructed go build an ark to avoid the coming flood which would wipe out the entire planet’s population.

Antichrist

Satan and his angels makeup a significant role in the Christian apocalypse, but it’s the overall history of Christianity that sheds light on why.

To Christians Satan is documented in scripture as one who desires to be like God.

It is for this reason that God supposedly cast him down to Earth and even prepared an eternal punishment realm for him known as Hell.

Therefore it makes sense that his second incarnation comes in the form of a birth similar to the birth of Jesus.

While similar they are different in that the Antichrist is believed to be a normal man who is either possessed or born through supernatural conception.

Paul called him the “man of sin” and Daniel names him as the “little horn.”

The book of Thessalonians calls him the “man of lawlessness”, or “lawless one.”

Grand Deception

The Christian view of the Antichrist is that he comes to control the entire world economy.

This is done, some speculation says, as through the formation of a one world government with the Antichrist at its head.

But how he comes to be the leader of the entire world is believed to be done through deception on an international and supernatural scale.

The Christian weariness to deception comes from Jesus himself and his warning.

If anyone says to you then, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. False messiahs and false prophets will arise, and they will perform signs and wonders so great as to deceive, if that were possible, even the elect.

Abomination of Desolation

The term abomination of desolation literally refers to an event, an abomination that desolates.

And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week; and for half of the week he shall cause sacrifice and offering to cease; and upon the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.
Daniel 9:27

It is after this event that the timeframe is believed to be set for the second even more dire half of the period known as the Great Tribulation.

Once the figure who desolates has declared himself God on earth, the Jews of Israel are said to flee to the Jordan city of Petra.

This small ancient as dirt city will be granted supernatural protection against assaults of all kinds.

A U.S. pastor was once denied refuge in the city of Petra by the Jordanian government for what he believed to be signs of the time of the Christian apocalypse.

Second Coming

The Second Coming is believed to have a devastating effect of the unbelieving and the disciples of the Antichrist.

Revelation describes how they will actually ask for rocks to fall on them to avoid having to look at the resurrected Christ.

As Jesus returns to his hometown of Jerusalem he is said to collect the dead Christians and collect the living believers.

The Antichrist is then thrown into an eternal lake of fire. Wether this is literal or not is not widely known.

Thousand Year Reign

Satan and the Antichrist or if one in the same, are locked away according to Revelation until “the thousand years are fulfilled.”

This is done to not allow Satan any freedom to deceive any longer.

After the 1000 years it’s said that Satan will once again be released, decieve and wage a new war yet again with God.
