The FBI Tested A Bigfoot Hair Sample In 1977

Federal Bureau of Investigation Assistant Director of the FBI Scientific and Technical Services Division wrote back to Bigfoot researcher Peter Byrne concluding that a hair sample he requested by analyzed by the FBI to prove that it was “not of any known creature on the continent”, was found to be part of the “deer family”.

Bigfoot sightings are documented throughout American history, 26th President of the United States Teddy Roosevelt wrote about a fatal Bigfoot encounter in his book, “The Wilderness Hunter”.

In 1976 after a Bigfoot sighting in the state of Washington, Cue Byrne, who at the time was director of The Bigfoot Information Center and Exhibition in The Dalles, Oregon collected a mysterious hair and tissue sample at the scene.

That this is a serious question that needs answering and that an examination of the hair, or the opposite, by the FBI., does not in any way, as far as we are concerned, suggest that the FBI., is associated with our project or confirms in any way the possibility of the existence of the creature(s) known as Bigfoot.

In 1977 FBI tested a sample of hair believed to be belonging to a Bigfoot.
The sample was taken by Peter Byrne after a sighting in the Pacific Northwest.
The FBI released the 22 files in June 2019, 43 years later, which concluded that the sample belonged to a member of the “deer family”.

Peter Byrne became the director of the “The Bigfoot Information Center and Exhibition” in The Dalles, Oregon in the 1960s. The institution “conducts research on and into the Bigfoot phenomenon of the Pacific Northwest of the USA.”

He set out to find evidence of Bigfoot in the state of Washington in the Pacific Northwest.

After a sighting in 1976 Byrne arrived on the scene and collected a sample of hair. He spent the next years writing the FBI, asking them to perform an analysis of the hair sample.

Nearly 43 years later it was evident that the FBI actually took his request seriously and performed tests on the hair sample. They concluded it was part of the “deer family”.

Jay Cochran Jr. was the Assistant Director of the FBI, “Scientific and Technical Services Division” at the time of Byrne’s letters.

Cochran writes, “we will examine the hairs and tissue mentioned in your letter”, providing a shipping address for them to be sent to.

1976 FBI Bigfoot Sample Analysis Results

The hairs which you recently delivered to the FBI Laboratory on behalf of the Bigfoot Information Center and Exhibition have been examined by transmitted and incident light microscopy. The examination included a study of morphological characteristics such as root structure, medullary structure and cuticle thickness in addition to scale casts…It was concluded as a result of those examinations that the hairs are of deer family origin.
